Team India, you beauty!

I am enthralled. On a dead bowling track, and on a pitch with an even bounce, and on a wicket with less turns than even the national highways, team India cracked open the Australian test team twice in about 165 overs.  Sure, the Indian batsmen played well but that did not contribute to this handsome victory as much as the two other aspects in the game - bowling and captaincy. There were many instances throughout the game that can prove proactive captaincy and lethal bowling, but this one instance when Mishra got Clarke stands out …

The cricket winter is here. Never mind the global warming, but the test match kicked off as scheduled. It was a lazy Thursday and I was enjoying a cup of coffee at 9 AM glued to my TV after a long time. There was a sense of excitement, it was a holiday and I had nothing else to do till about 6 PM. The last cricket winter?

October 9 in Banglore where the first test match between India and Australia kicks off, will be the begening of the end of Indian test match cricket, and you can basically take my word for it. It breaks my heart as I am a purist and I derive teeming pleasures out of good test match cricket. A contest like India Vs Australia is mouth watering to say the least.
Test match cricket battles with shorter versions of the game on a per diem basis, and on a popularity scale ends up loosing 9 times out …

Pressure Cricket?

“I’ll be going to bed having nightmares of Sachin just running down the wicket and belting me back over the head for six. He was unstoppable. I don’t think anyone, apart from Don Bradman, is in the same class as Sachin Tendulkar. He is just an amazing player.” - Shane Warne.
Sports thrives on pressure. Champions clash against each other inside a coliseum, top skills are on display, greedy fans want to see reputations destroyed, or at least some blood. One champion outshines the other, hands are shaken at the end of …
