QBA

QBA is a restaurant & bar located in Connaught Place in New Delhi. I have visited the place about 3-4  times  for lunch and dinner, and each of those visits have turned out to be pretty satisfactory. It is located in the inner circle of connaught place, and is very hard to miss if you are specifically looking for it.  As you enter you can immediately feel the immense size of the place.  It is couple of floors connected by a well designed staircase. The place is very nicely done with plenty of sitting options to choose from. There are well arranged couches for larger groups, two elegant chairs and a table well located for the couples, bar stools for the loners, and high tables for cool friends. Take your pick.

The ambiance is very lively during the night time. There is decent music, a magnificent bar right at the center of the place that is open from at least 3 sides and lightning that is just bright enough for my comfort. Moving to the beverages, the menu is well loaded with some well known cocktails like mojito, pina colada and others, to plenty of foreign and India liquors. And if you are in love with Carlsberg beer like me, you don’t need to do any further digging. The food menu is a good mix of  Italian, Continental, Indian and International fussion. I would give a thumbs up to the quality of food in terms of taste, aroma and presentation. I’ve tried the fish, pasta’s, pizza’s, kabab’s and maybe a few more, it has always been satisfactory. Don’t remember ever complaining about food here.

The service is a little bit of issue here. There is always someone to attend to you, which is good, and the drinks arrive in no time.  But when it comes to food, it always takes a lot of time to reach your table. I guess you can put this down to the kitchen delay rather than someone not attending to you.

Moving on to the money, let me put it this way, this is a relatively expensive place from other restaurants and bars in connaught place. It could cost you a little over INR 2000 for 2 people with light drinks, light snacks and a main course.   Some people will argue that you can go eat a buffet at a five star for 2 people for that money, but I would always skip those old buffet’s and enjoy the atmosphere, central location, beverages and the sheer presence of this place.

The best part of QBA has to be the outside seating for about 15 people on the 2nd floor terrace. Relaxing in the fresh air and starring directly into the inner circle on a winter afternoon or summer nighttime makes this place very special, at least for me.
