Jane Tu Ya Jaane Na

I am amazed to learn that people and top critics have called this movie: Refreshing. Hello! Its a typical hindi movie centrally revolving around introducing a super star’s nephew and a newish girl on the block. A story about a group of college friends who are sitting at the airport, waiting, and telling the love story of Jai Singh Rathod and Aditi Mahant. Jai and Adity are best friends who are trying to find each other life partners and then later end up finding each other. A conventional, tiresome and pitiful story that ends in the most predictable location of them all - the airport.

On the brighter side, Imraan and Genelia, the movie leads have done good work. The script did not require them to be great actors, nor there were situations or sequences for them to display their skills, nor the people who go to such movies expect a million dolor baby performances, so keeping all this mind the leads fared up well. I thought Imraan was always very nicely dressed - red shoes, jeans and stripes gelled with the college profile really well. Genelia showed sparks of potentially turning into a very good actress in times to come. The movie was targeted for school & college students and it fit the bill perfectly. A lot of student groups will be able to relate to each character in one way or the other.

Aamir Khan pulled it somehow by casting the right people for the script. Replace Imraan and Genelia with Tushar Kapoor and Esha Doel, and most of us would not have even thought about watching it. I personally could have better utilized my time than watching and blogging it, but its one of those 50-50 movies where a large bucket of butter popcorn will get you through in desperate moments.
